Damp & Mould Survey

A professional damp and mould survey with a written report provided for £50.

A damp or mould problem is rarely explained by one reading or one visible patch. Our survey is a practical, non-destructive starting point: we look at the pattern of moisture, the building and the way air moves through the home before recommending a proportionate next step.

The aim is to distinguish likely condensation, water ingress, plumbing leaks, ground-related moisture or a combination of issues. That helps avoid treating the symptom while the cause remains.

When this service may help

  • Recurring damp patches, peeling paint or stained plaster
  • Musty smells or visible mould
  • Condensation that keeps returning
  • Deterioration around skirtings, windows or external walls
  • Concern about a leak, rain penetration or moisture before remedial work

What we look at / do

  • Visible damp and mould patterns in accessible areas
  • Moisture readings interpreted alongside the construction and condition
  • Ventilation and condensation indicators
  • Accessible external fabric, ground levels and rainwater goods
  • Visible signs of leaks, salts, plaster deterioration and timber risk

Tell us what you have noticed

    Explain the likely causes

We set out what the findings suggest and where further investigation may be needed.

    Plan the next step

You receive practical recommendations and, where appropriate, a clear scope for further work.

Important to know

The survey is non-destructive unless opening-up is expressly agreed. Furniture, finishes, concealed cavities, subfloors and roof spaces can restrict what can be seen, and further investigation may be recommended where the evidence is incomplete.

What happens next

Send us a brief description of the problem and arrange a visit. After the survey, we will talk through the findings in plain English and help you decide whether remedial work, monitoring or another specialist is the sensible next step.

Common questions

Often, yes. We consider the location and pattern of the issue, ventilation, cold surfaces, building defects and other evidence. Some properties have more than one moisture source.

Not for a normal survey. If concealed construction needs checking, we explain why and agree any opening-up separately.

The survey record captures the findings, relevant photographs, observations and recommended next steps.
