Double Glazed Unit Replacement

Double Glazed Unit Replacement

We replace failed, misted and blown double glazed units where the sealed glazing unit has deteriorated or failed. The existing window will be assessed and measured so that the correct replacement unit can be supplied and fitted.

Where windows are externally beaded and are higher than two storeys, scaffolding may be required. Where required, scaffolding will be included in the quotation and shown as a separate item.

Any additional requirements, including scaffolding where required, will be clearly identified and shown separately on the quotation.

Drone Roof And External Inspection

Drone Roof & External Inspection

Drone imagery can help us inspect roofs, chimneys, gutters, flashings, high-level walls, inaccessible elevations and suspected water-entry points without unnecessary access equipment. It supports, rather than replaces, a physical inspection where one is needed. Use is subject to site conditions, weather, access and safe, legal operation.

  • High-resolution external imagery
  • Review of likely water-entry points
  • Photographs for the inspection record
  • Findings incorporated into the written report where relevant

Timber Rot Inspection

Timber & Rot Inspection

We inspect accessible floor timbers, joists, skirting and other structural or decorative timber for visible signs of moisture-related deterioration. We assess likely moisture sources and explain when further opening-up or treatment may be needed. Concealed timber cannot be assessed with certainty without appropriate access.

  • Visual timber inspection
  • Moisture assessment
  • Identification of visible decay indicators
  • Likely moisture-source assessment
  • Photographic evidence
  • Practical recommendations

You receive photographic findings and a written report in plain English. This is a specialist damp and mould inspection and does not replace a full building survey.

  • Visible damp and mould assessment
  • Moisture and ventilation checks
  • Visible timber concerns where relevant
  • Photographic findings
  • Written report with practical next steps

Ventilation Improvements

Steam from cooking, bathing and drying clothes, and the moisture we breathe out overnight, has to go somewhere. Where extraction is missing, underpowered or switched off, that moisture settles on the coldest surfaces and mould follows.

We check how air currently moves through the affected rooms and fit or upgrade extraction so moisture leaves the house instead of building up on walls, windows and ceilings.

  • Assessment of existing extraction and airflow
  • Extractor fan fitting or upgrade
  • Trickle vent and background ventilation advice
  • Humidity and condensation advice for the affected room
  • Practical guidance on everyday habits that add moisture

Damp Proofing

Rising damp is often suspected but less often genuinely present — condensation and penetrating damp can leave very similar marks. We confirm the real cause before recommending any damp-proofing work.

Where rising damp is confirmed, we repair or renew the damp-proof course and make good the affected plaster, so the treatment addresses the actual cause rather than the symptom.

  • Confirmation of rising damp before any work begins
  • Damp-proof course repair or renewal
  • Removal of affected plaster to the agreed height
  • Replastering with an appropriate damp-proofing system
  • Advice on ground levels and bridging that can cause recurrence

Pricing approach

Fair and Consistent Pricing

Our rates are based on the M3NHF Schedule of Rates.

We use the same rate basis for private and social landlords. There is no additional private-landlord loading simply because a property is privately owned.

Where additional work or access is genuinely required, it will be identified clearly and shown separately on your quotation.

Asbestos Safety

Spore Shield does not carry out asbestos removal.

Our operatives are asbestos-awareness trained. If suspected asbestos-containing material is discovered while work is taking place, work in the affected area will stop until an appropriate asbestos assessment or report has been completed.

Where asbestos removal is required, the affected work will not continue until it has been dealt with by an appropriate specialist. We can help arrange the required specialist service, and any additional costs will be agreed separately.
